We noted some time ago that the Arabic Language Academy possessed sufficient material in the language of science to enable it to produce specialized dictionaries, and it has already begun publishing some of them. We are now continuing this work. Today's dictionary is the fruit of continuous efforts spanning a quarter of a century or more, reflecting the Academy's overall work. It was initially undertaken by a specialized committee, the Committee on Philosophical and Social Sciences, comprised of leading experts in the field, both full-time and part-time professors. It is customary for the committees' work to be presented to the Academy Council for review and correction, or for matters requiring further research and scrutiny to be referred back to the relevant committees. This work is not considered final until it is approved by the Academy's annual conference.
